Bella notte…..Classic, elegant, and fairytale at it’s finest. Kristen and John’s Carnegie Institution for Science Wedding was a vision of real-life Cinderella and her Prince Charming! You may remember Kristen+John from their proposal earlier this year – I adored them then, and was ecstatic when they asked if I would shoot their wedding as well!
It was Friday of Labor Day weekend in DC, and it seemed the entire city was ready to celebrate along with Kristen+John. As Kristen readied herself for her First Look with her dad, I asked her if he was going to cry. She said “No way, not happening.” So when the door to the hotel room opened, and his face scrunched up with emotion, I was overwhelmed and had to brush away a few tears of my own. Seeing his princess look like a real princess – well, it was just too much. Meanwhile, John was experiencing some emotion of his own – excitement of receiving a Rolex from his bride! He looked at that watch like a girl who has just received an engagement ring! It was awesome to see his reaction to the gift, but it was nothing compared to his awestruck reaction when he saw his bride floating down the aisle towards him. After the ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, the bridal party fought holiday weekend traffic to get to Senate Park for some portraits, and then it was on to Carnegie Institute for a few more portraits before the big party!
Their Italian themed wedding at the Carnegie Institution for Science in DC, came to be as a celebration of their upcoming honeymoon to Italy’s Almafi Coast. A Sweet Soiree coordinated the affair, and guests signed pages in their travel guidebook, an ice sculpture in the shape of the Leaning Tower of Pisa adorned the bar, handcrafted Italian cocktails, and a Sinatra impersonator all helped to create una bella serata italiana. I can’t even explain to you the happiness, joy, and laughter that I witnessed surround these two as they celebrated the beginning of the next chapter in their lives. Every moment was filled with love and ear to ear smiles, as you can see on Kristen’s face! Thank you guys for allowing me to be part of such an amazing day, and trusting me to capture your moments. I’m uber grateful that you allowed me some extra time during your reception to create some of my favorite portraits!! When the light is right, it’s right!! Congratulations you two!!
Much Love, ♥ tPoz
